It’s awesome to stumble across a group of people who are truly passionate. The folks at Burning Through Pages are just that: passionate, caring, and awesome.
The Burning Through Pages charity is a Denver, CO group that donates books to kids in the city in an effort to get them passionate about reading. Their theory is that, while the classics are classics for a reason, their often outdated concepts and prose are just not something kids today can really relate to, thus the low levels of reading for pleasure in today’s youth.
So BTP gives kids books. If the kids like them, awesome. If not, they can return them and get a different one. But the basis is free books in an effort to help kids discover the joys of reading.
It’s an amazing message.
I recently did a charity for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by donating all proceeds from my book to them, and I’ll be doing another one of those charity drives for BTP next June. Stay tuned.
In the mean time, please look for ways to donate and support them. I’d love for them to be able to expand to other cities.
