The Awesome Indies Magical Mystery Tour

aia_magicalMTour2

Today I’m participating in the The Awesome Indies Magical Mystery Tour, hosted by the Awesome Indies. From the 27th to the 30th September you’ll have the chance to pick up some special offers or win some awesome prizes at all the blogs participating in the tour, including mine.

Why is it called the Magical Mystery Tour? Because it highlights the magical and mysterious qualities of some of the books listed on the Awesome Indies. Also, there’s  a chapter of a mystery at each blog, and a tour for you to take to read the full story and find the key you need to enter the Giveaway for an  Amazon gift card. (First prize is a $25 card, second prize is $15 and third prizes is a $10 card.)

All you have to do is start at the Awesome Indies, follow the links from blog to blog, read the story and pick up the clue to the mystery key to enter the draw when you get back to the Awesome Indies. While you’re at each blog, read about the authors book and enter their giveaway or pick up their special offer.

  • If you haven’t started the tour, pop over to the Awesome Indies and start now by clicking here.
  • If you’re on the Magical Mystery Tour already, then read on …

What is magical and/or mysterious about my book?

The Grimoire Saga steals the reader away to the land of Ourea, where monsters are real and magic is commonplace. It’s a beautiful land, but its creatures are treacherous and few survive. You can read survival tips for how to live in this isolated world, or pick up the first in the series, Lichgates, for free. More details on that below.

My Part of the Magical Mystery Tale

Walter, Part 1

Walter kicked his feet off the table and grumbled under his breath. He didn’t want to get up. He wanted to watch the television and fall asleep like every old man had the right to do, but he couldn’t. Not if his suspicions were true.

He ambled out the front door and let the screen slam behind him. Pam and Addie wouldn’t notice him step out for a few minutes, and he didn’t want to worry them. It may be nothing, but he had to talk to Kevin. That old coot was probably behind this.

The young man found something in the railway station that shouldn’t be there. Pretty little combs don’t just turn up in filthy and forgotten places. They’re lost, or dropped in a scuffle.

Walter picked up his pace. His knees ached, but he pushed his body forward.

The door to the mini mart creaked as he pulled it open. Kevin leaned on the checkout counter, staring out the window, eyes out of focus. He didn’t even blink as Walter neared.

“What’ve you been doing in the old railway station, Kevin?” Walter asked.

A direct approach usually worked best.

Kevin blinked and caught Walter’s eye, but he didn’t answer.

“Those campers found something out there. Looks like a lady’s comb. You wouldn’t know anything about that, would you?”

Kevin didn’t move for a moment. Finally, he shrugged, his face slack.

Walter grimaced. “Now you’re just lying. You do this, you know? When you’re trying to hide something, you don’t answer. It makes your lying obvious. Out with it already.”
