The Best & Worst of Wynne Channing’s Paranormal Romance, WHAT KILLS ME

For the Blogger’s Book Fair, Wynne Channing and a few other illustrious authors are gossiping about the “best and worst of books and blogs” for 2012 on her blog. In the spirit of highlights and lowlights, she’s stopped by to share the “best and worst” moments from her top-rated best-selling novel, What Kills Me:

What Kills Me by Wynne Channing

Worst time to trust a stranger: When that stranger is really pale and pays an unnatural amount of attention to getting you alone. Seventeen-year-old Zee takes a chance on a pale, handsome stranger that she meets in Rome. Surprise, surprise, he tries to kill her.

Grossest way to die: Drowning is bad enough. But imagine drowning in a well full of vampire blood, then waking up craving human juice. That’s just nasty. But that’s the price Zee pays for trusting a stranger (see earlier note).

Best example of when sun damage is awesome: When you’re stuck in a prison with a psychotic vamp and it’s almost dawn. Lucky for Zee, the sun is coming and vampires burn in the sun. Unfortunately for Zee, she’s become a vampire too.

Hottest kind of love: The love that is earned. None of this love-at-first-sight business. Zee meets Lucas, an unfriendly but loyal vampire, and their relationship evolves organically. Zee’s too busy fighting for her life to be swooning over some guy.

Wynne Channing is giving away an e-copy of What Kills Me, which won the Reader’s Choice Award in the Young Adult category at last year’s fair. The prize also includes a signed bookmark and a rhinestone butterfly pendant! Click here for more details!

About What Kills Me

An ancient prophecy warns of a girl destined to cause the extinction of the vampire race. So when 17-year-old Axelia falls into a sacred well filled with blood and emerges a vampire, the immortal empire believes she is this legendary destroyer. Hunted by soldiers and mercenaries, Axelia and her reluctant ally, the vampire bladesmith Lucas, must battle to survive. How will she convince the empire that she is just an innocent teenager-turned bloodsucker and not a creature of destruction? And if she cannot, can a vampire who is afraid of bugs summon the courage to fight a nation of immortals?
